…See the scans of the “before” & “after”…..Not all coins will have the same result, but you can see the reason why folks “love” or “hate” the results…..The last scan shows the effect if you do it all over the coin, at least it will look even…..
This will bring back the date, mint mark and/or coin details, a “nic-a-dated” coin is not worth much, purist collectors do not want them………. without restored the dateless nickels are worth about 25 cents……..but imagine, finding a 1916/16 or 1918/7 even the 1913 type 2 “D” or “S”, these will bring in from $20 to $200 even nic-a-date restored. ….
.There is a 1918/17 nic-a-date restored listed for $199 on eBay (03/2021)..
